This is a small town, founded in 1922, on the confluence of the rivers Orinoco and Meta. From its river port, the commercial and freight transport activities of the department are carried out with the capital of Colombia. It can be accessed by air (from Bogota or Villavicencio), fluvial (Villavicencio or Puerto Gaitán, by the Meta river) or terrestrial (from Puerto Gaitán).
